Ditch The Survival Mode

I'm fairly certain you haven't spent too much time thinking about turtles, but wait... perhaps we should! Upon taking a closer look, turtles really are fascinating creatures. They come self-equipped with their own shield of protection. I suppose those most stubborn, or scared turtles could stay mostly nestled under that shell, but how much fun would that be? To ditch this survival mode would open up a whole world of opportunity and adventure!

We can all learn a thing or two about life/business from turtles.

Stick your neck out

No matter your position, whether you are a leasing consultant, assistant manager, maintenance tech or supervisor of any kind, progress will be difficult unless you stick your neck out a bit! This doesn't mean to go out on a limb to do something risky. Areas where you could stretch your skills could include a special assignment or new project, perhaps it's in team development, or even asking for the sale. Bottom line, if you don't step out of your comfort zone with wide-eyes and eagerness to help and learn, you will inevitably remain stuck in one spot.

Challenge yourself to volunteer for a special assignment, or to job-shadow someone in a position you aspire to and want to learn more abou. With a little action, the possibilities are limitless!

In order to make progress, you need to get out from under your shell!
